CONFESSIONS OF AN ACTOR

Indianapolis The Bobbs-Merrill Company 1926 Unpaginated (Approximately 200). SIGNED. Small Octavo Illustrated from Barrymore family photographs and movie and stage stills, as well as a drawing of Barrymore by John Singer Sargent. Brown cloth. Dustjacket. SIGNED by John Barrymore in ink on a special bookplate. Prior owner's name and gift inscription in ink. Small booksellers stamp on front pastedown. Memoirs of the great actor, originally appearing in magazine form in 1925. Of interest is the author's description of his stay in San Francisco during the earthquake and fire of 1906, and the content of a letter written by George Bernard Shaw following GBS' attendance at the opening of Barrymore's Hamlet in London in 1925. This copy has some wear at the spine ends, and the spine lettering is rubbed. The scarce dustjacket is somewhat soiled and chipped, more so at the spine ends, now collected and protected in a clear mylar sleeve. ALWAYS FREE SHIPPING via media mail to any United States address.
