(Pete) Starr (1903-1933) was an avid mountaineer who loved and wrote about the Sierra Nevada. After graduation from Stanford and membership in Delta Kappa Epsilon (Deke), he became a prominent San Francisco attorney. His passion, however, was mountaineering in the Sierra Nevada. Starr often went on his Sierra treks alone. In 1933, Starr went missing while exploring the Minarets, a range on the eastern Sierra. A massive search ensued. His body was finally found where he had fallen, and he was buried nearby. This Guide was completed and published largely through the work of the authors father, Walter A. Starr, Sr., working from his son's notes. This is the somewhat scarce First Edition of a classic that has been revised re-issued through the years and is still in print. Minor corner crimping and some soiling, but NEAR FINE and now in a clear mylar protective jacket
