Author Crane, a man of the Methodist Episcopal Church, lectures us on the good and evil (mostly evil) of "baleful diversions", including a chapter each on The Theater, Horse-Racing, Baseball, Dancing, Novels, and "Cards, Chess and Billiards". Best read while wearing a hair shirt and beating yourself with brambles. Prior owner's signature on front pastedown. Front endpapers neatly excised, to open on the title page.
