Cincinnati Cranston and Stowe CA. 1869 209 pages. Ca. 1869 (later, but early, printing). Green blind-stamped cloth with gilt spine titling. 4 7/8" x 7 5/8". Introduction by Bishop E. S. Janes. Published in New York by Hunt and Eaton. Author Crane, a man of the Methodist Episcopal Church, lectures us on the good and evil (mostly evil) of "baleful diversions", including a chapter each on The Theater, Horse-Racing, Baseball, Dancing, Novels, and "Cards, Chess and Billiards". Best read while wearing a hair shirt and beating yourself with brambles. Prior owner's signature on front pastedown. Front endpapers neatly excised, to open on the title page. Some edgewear, especially at the spine-ends. Very Good or better overall. ALWAYS FREE SHIPPING via media mail to any United States address
