The Pious Fund was established and administered by the Jesuits to sponsor the Missions of Alta and Baja California. The Fund was the object of litigation between the United States and Mexico, finally resolved in 1902. Two inoffensive bookplates on the front pastedown and front free endpaper; some toning of the covers, still Very Good Plus or better and now in a custom clear mylar protective jacket.
