Zanuck, in ink on a front free endpaper, "Presented to Darryl F. Zanuck distinguished interpreter of democracy with the compliments of David E. Lilienthal / Norris, Tennessee / November 10, 1944" . Many illustrations from photographs. First Edition. Iluustrated dust jacket. Cloth-backed illustrated boards. 7" x 9 1/2". Certificate of Authenticity signed by Darrilin Zanuck (daughter) laid in.David E. Lilienthal went on to head the Atomic Energy Commission. The presentation of this copy apparently had its desired effect, as Zanuck would later produce "Wild River", a 1960 Elia Kazan film starring Montgomery Clift, Lee Remick and Jo Van Fleet, about the troubles between the nascent TVA and the established rural landowners that it uprooted.
