Per Kurtuz, "In these recollections, Crosby provides important descriptions of San Francisco, Sacramento, Sutter's Fort, and the Yuba and Feather River mines. He also interviewed James Marshall and obtained a firsthand account of the discovery." He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in 1849. Later, Lincoln appointed him Minister to Guatemala, and his time there with dictator Carrera and church dignataries is also covered. Kurutz164; Gudde, p. 393; Norris 900.
