Bidwell was a member of the Bartleson-Bidwell party, which was the first organized group of emigrants to reach California, over the Sierra Nevada, from the United States. This book describes that overland journey, ending in the arrival at Dr. Marsh's ranch on November 4, 1841.Bidwell's journey lead on to great prosperity.
