Lists the members of the 1856 Vigilance Committee. A Vigilance Committee was first formed in San Francisco in 1851, in response to a loss of faith in the existing justice system due to incompetence and corruption. The Vigilance Committee was re-formed in 1856 in response to the murder of James King of William by James Casey. Decker 35:203. Wrappers slightly toned, chipped and rubbed; Bookplate at verso of front wrapper; small bookseller's sticker on rear wrapper, but still, Very Good or better overall, and now in a clear 4 mil mylar protective envelope.
