Original brown buckram; gilt cover and spine titling. 7" x 10 5/8". Arnold Genthe (1869-1942) was a German-born American photographer, often associated with San Francisco and Dance subjects. Per the Genthe Foreword: "This, therefore, is meant to be just a picture book, permanently recording something of the fugitve charm of rhythmic motions, significant gesture and billiant color which the dance has once more brought into our lives." The photographs are grouped by leading dancer, including the Isadora Duncan School, Ruth St. Denis and her School, The Morgan Dancers, Classic Dancers (nude), Anna Pavlova and the Biyar School. The dancers are unidentified, but some are recognizable. Beautiful classic photography. Some soiling and slight edgewear, but Near Fine overall, and now in a clear mylar protective jacket.
