In 1869 Professor Joseph LeConte came to California to join the faculty of the newly organized University of California as a professor of natural sciences. This is Professor LeConte's journal of a trip he took in1870 with several University students to Yosemite and the High Sierra, including Lake Tahoe. This is a particularly nice edition of the Journal, limited to 1500 copies and printed by Taylor & Taylor, San Francisco, for the Sierra Club.
