(8) 232 pp. SIGNED/INSCRIBED by George Sterling in ink on a front free endpaper, "For Kathleen, whose face is the face of Romance, in deepest admiration. George Sterling. San Francisco, June 29th, 1923." Also in Sterling's hand, in ink, on the title page is written, "For Kathleen Byam". Affixed to the front pastedown is an original photograph of Sterling, in hunting garb and hat, holding a shotgun and draped in gamebirds. Dark blue cloth with gilt cover and spine titlings. 4 1/2" x 6 3/4". 750 copies first printed. Includes "Spring in Carmel" and "Autumn in Carmel". Kathleen Byam (1893-1966), a graduate of Smith College, was an actress and "mono-dramatist" who gave solo shows and readings. Poet/Playwright George Sterling (1869-1926) was a resident member of early Carmel's bohemian group and a friend of Jack London, Mary Austin and Robinson Jeffers. His later years were spent in San Francisco, where he died by his own hand in 1926. A collection of Sterling's poems, first published in other volumes.
