Hollywood: Paramount Studios, Circa 1923. First Edition. This is an ORIGINAL photograph of film Director, Producer and Editor CECIL B. DeMILLE. Black and White. Matte finish. Deluxe doubleweight stock. DeMille is seen wearing a black armband, presumably for the death of his mother Beatrice in 1923, when DeMille was 42 years old. The image is 7" x 9". The entire piece, including white border, measures 9 1/4" x 11". The photographer is identified on the verso as Eugene Robert Richee. Richee was one of the finest of the studio still photographers and was employed by Paramount Studios from 1921 to 1941. Cecil B. DeMille was a Hollywood movie pioneer, creating films in both the silent and sound eras. He was known especially for films with massive sets and huge casts, often with Biblical themes. He was given the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1952. There is a tiny chip in the upper left corner of the border, else a Fine copy, now in a clear mylar protective envelope with a white cardstock backboard. FREE SHIPPING to any United States address.
