U. S. COAST SURVEY, 1872. This is an ORIGINAL MAP created by the U. S. Coast Survey in 1872, under the supervision of Benjamin Peirce and surveyed by R. M. Bache, of the Harbor of NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT. Expertly linen-backed for preservation and ease of handling. The map measures 25 1/2" x 32", with a white linen border of 1 3/4". Covers New Haven harbor from New Haven to Morgan's Point. Includes sailing instructions and inland detail as well as many depth soundings.
The U. S. Coast Survey was created by an Act signed by President Thomas Jefferson in 1807. Near Fine condition and certainly suitable for framing. Near Fine. Item #2825
