1916 ORIGINAL NEVADA COUNTY BANK PROMISSORY NOTE /10 IRS 5 CENT STAMPS/ SERIES 1914
Nevada City, California: Nevada County Bank, 1916. First Edition. This is an ORIGINAL fully executed Promissory Note dated July 1, 1916 by which Nevada County Bank loaned $2500 to C. W. Chapman, DDS. Signed by Dr. Chapman.The note bears 10 cancelled U. S. Internal Revenue 5 Cent Stamps, Series of 1914. The loan was collateralized by $3000 par value South Yuba Water Company Consolidated Mortgage 6% bonds. The note bears "PAID" stamps dated June 30, 1920, as well as some handwritten notations of payment. The document measures 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded and 13 1/4" x 8 1/2" unfolded. Nevada County is in the Northern California gold county. C.W. Chapman DDS was a prominent Nevada City, California resident who was one-time Mayor of Nevada City.
