San Francisco: M/M Theodore Max "Ted" Lilienthal, Circa 1950. First Edtion. This is an ORIGINAL seasons greetings print from Theodore Max "Ted" and Frances Baruch "Fran" Lilienthal, circa 1950, printed by The Grabhorn Press of San Francisco. The print unfolds to reveal a large Japanese giesha figure, with the caption, "Proof from an original eighteenth century Japanese woodblock." The piece is folded in four and measures 6" x 9" folded and 9" x 21" opened. Ted Lilienthal (1893-1972) was a prominent San Francisco businessman, bookseller (Gelber-Lilienthal bookstore) and publisher (Lantern Press). He was a longtime friend and patron of poet Robinson Jeffers. Very scarce.The piece is printed on lightweight beige paper, and is in Very Good Plus condition (small hole at center foldlines; slightly folded off-center.)
