1972 / ORIGINAL LETTER (TLS) / KATHARINE CORNELL / AMERICAN THEATER
Vineyard Haven, MA: Katharine Cornell, 1972. This is an ORIGINAL typewritten letter (TLS) from famed American actress KATHARINE CORNELL (1893-1974) to Professor David Mallory(sp) dated September 19, 1972. The letter is SIGNED and annotated in ink by Katharine Cornell and is on her personal stationary. Included is the flap-clipped mailing envelope for the letter, with Ms. Cornell's return address The letter is 7" x 11". Both letter and envelope are light gray in color. Critic Alexander Woollcott called Katharine Cornell "The First Lady of the American Theater". She starred in "The Barretts of Wimpole Street", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Antony and Cleopatra", for which she won a lead actress Tony Award. David Mallery was a Professor of Cinematography at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, a founding member of AFI (American Film Institute) and a member of the Motion Picture Academy.
