Hollywood: Nero Films, 1946. Original. This is an ORIGINAL one-sheet movie poster for the film, "WHISTLE STOP" starring George Raft, Ava Gardner, Victor McLaglen and Tom Conway. The poster has been linen-backed for preservation and ease of handling. 27" x 41". Prior to this film, Ava Gardner had been a contract player for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, appearing in bit parts and going nowhere. MGM loaned her out for this film noir "B" picture. According to Ava Gardner, producer Mark Hellinger saw her in this movie kissing George Raft, and was so impressed with that scene, that he cast her in "The Killers" based on an Ernest Hemingway short story and starring Burt Lancaster. From there, Ava Gardner's career took off like a rocket. A Very Good copy, shipped rolled. Very Good. Item #3012
