Seville, Spain: 1945. First Edition. This is an ORIGINAL poster for the April 19 ,1945 bullfights in Seville Spain, featuring premier matador Manuel Rodriguez MANOLETE in a mano a mano with Mexican matador Carlos ARRUZA. Expertly linen-backed for preservation and ease of handling 21 1/2" x 42" with a 3/4" white border. MANOLETE (1917-1947) turned professional in 1934. He fought in a classical style, with little movement and less flashy capework. He was wildly popular. Following the tour featuring this fight, he retired briefly in 1946. He returned for the 1947 season. On August 28, 1947, while fighting Miura bulls with Luis Miguel Dominguin, he was gored and died of blod loss on August 29 at age 30.
