This is an ORIGINAL poster published by the Museum of the City of New York featuring a caricature by WILLIAM AUERBACH-LEVY (WAL) of TALLULAH BANKHEAD and FREDERIC MARCH in their 1942 Broadway play, "The Skin of Our Teeth". 22" x 29". Card stock. Thornton Wilder's play "The Skin of Our Teeth" opened on Broadway in 1942, starring Tallulah Bankhead, Frederic March, Florence Eldridge and Montgomery Clift. Directed by Elia Kazan, it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Tallulah Bankhead (1902-1968) was a legendary stage and screen actress, noted for her colorful lifestyle as much as for her performances. Her most prominent screen role was in Alfred Hitcock's "Lifeboat" in 1944. William Auerbach-Levy (1889-1964) was a Russian-born, New York educated artist and caracaturist, specializing in stylized portraits of prominent Americans, with emphasis on theatre personalities.
